Chapter

Sixteen

Coralie, Jessie, and Fiona embarked on a mission to find the perfect dresses for the upcoming reunion. The enchanting dress shop nestled in the heart of Mystic River was aptly named Whispering Threads. It was owned by the sassy and vibrant Jordan, a thread witch with a knack for spellbinding fashion. Rows of elegant designs and mirrors reflecting dreams awaited them, while racks of shimmering fabrics whispered promises of glamour. The air was thick with the scent of new clothes, mingled with laughter and the low hum of conversations.

Coralie ran her fingers along the array of dresses, her eyes alight with anticipation. “I can’t believe it’s been so long since we’ve had a reunion. Remember that time during our junior year when we snuck out of the school dance and ended up at that abandoned house with Jordan?”

Jessie grinned, her eyes sparkling. “Oh, how could I forget? We were convinced it was haunted, but it was just some raccoons making a ruckus.”

Fiona chuckled, her fingers twirling a lock of her dark hair. “And Coralie here thought she saw a ghost. She screamed so loud. We had to run for our lives!”

Yet her eyes were locked on Jordan, the sassy thread witch, as she helped glamor a customer into a dress that was two sizes too small. Coralie couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at the way Fiona stared at Jordan. It went beyond friendly admiration—it was a look of smoldering desire as if Fiona wanted to strip Jordan down to her birthday suit right then and there. Jordan glanced up at Fiona and gave her a nod. The heat between them was hotter than the steamiest dress in Jordan’s magical collection.

Coralie playfully nudged Fiona with her elbow, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. “Hey, I wasn’t the only one who screamed. You two were just as terrified! I seem to remember you jumping into Jordan’s arms and holding on for dear life.”

Fiona let out an exaggerated sigh, attempting to play it cool, but her cheeks gave her away as they turned a delightful shade of pink. She rolled her eyes, trying to hide her embarrassment but failing miserably.

Amidst their laughter, Coralie’s eyes zeroed in on a dress that practically whispered her name. Its fabric shimmered like stardust, adorned with delicate silver sequins. It beckoned her closer, promising to ignite her confidence and accentuate every sexy curve. With a wicked grin, she pictured herself sauntering into the reunion, stealing the spotlight in a dress short enough to turn heads yet practical enough to give her the freedom to move like a damn ninja if the situation called for it. She brushed aside the nagging thought of running for her life, determined to savor dress shopping with her two besties.

Jessie, ever the honest friend, chimed in. “Oh, Coralie, that dress is a knock-out! You’ll be stopping hearts left and right.”

Fiona nodded in agreement. “You’re gonna make heads spin, girl. They won’t know what hit ‘em when you enter that room.”

Coralie blushed, their compliments warming her heart.
